Welcome to Atlanta
In 1872, the Atlanta town-site was plotted on the new Texas and Pacific Railroad, which was under construction. Atlanta was established as a central point between Texarkana and Jefferson on 100 acres donated by Captain P. R. Scott. The first four streets were named for his children - Hiram, William, Buckner, and Louise. These streets are the layout of the downtown area today.
You can enjoy small town living with the convenience of larger cities, Texarkana and Shreveport, only a short drive away. Being surrounded by lakes and state parks, Atlanta offers the "INGS" for family entertainment; shopping, fishing, hiking, boating, hunting, golfing, walking trails, picnicking, camping, racing, cycling, and birding all can be enjoyed in the area.
Atlanta takes pride in local schools and churches. We enjoy many local events like the Wildflower Trails, Cass County Summer Fest, Fourth of July Events, Cass County Rodeo, Hoot N Holler BBQ and Texas Music Theater. Also, visit our Veteran's Memorial in the downtown area.
Whether you come to shop, visit, or stay for a life time....you will be welcomed by friendly people. Click here to learn more about Atlanta.
