Atlanta Runner Qualifies for Boston Marathon
12/14/2004
Surprising herself, first time marathon runner, Nora Pratt from Atlanta, successfully completed the December 12th White Rock Marathon in Dallas with a time of 3:59:10. Having participated in a half marathon as she prepared for the big day, Pratt had been advised to double her time and add 20 minutes to estimate what her actual 26.2 mile time might be. Setting the pace with a comfortable nine-minute mile, Pratt realized at the 22 mile mark that she had a chance at breaking the four hour barrier. At 26 miles, Pratt increased her speed for the remaining two-tenths of a mile, crossing the finish line with 50 seconds to spare. Pratt was informed the following day that her time was good enough to qualify her for the Boston Marathon scheduled for April 2005. Encouraged by her performance, Pratt is looking forward to the April event. Congrats to Pratt and her accomplishment.
