| In 1996, the Atlanta City Development Corporation selected Bucher, Willis & Ratliff Corporation to design a comprehensive plan for the Downtown Business District. Atlanta's Downtown Business District is a six-block area positioned between Thomas Street on the south, Starkey Street on the east, Allday Street on the north and the Union Pacific tracks on the west. The area contains 65 businesses, which create 217 jobs. Existing available space will support 10 additional businesses. Upper level space is available in 16 buildings and is currently not used for commercial or residential purposes. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

The Atlanta City Development Corporation will partner with the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Atlanta to complete two long planned projects benefiting the Downtown Business District: the widening of East Main Street and the renovation and adaptive reuse of the Union Pacific Train Depot. Additionally, the Corporation has partnered with the City of Atlanta in the funding of new airport terminal construction, which will accommodate future business needs as Atlanta continues to upgrade airport infrastructure. |
